In the quiet town of Derry, Maine, seven freinds, Bill, Eddie, Mike, Bev, Stan, Richie and Ben (The Losers Club) have all been seeing and hearing strange things. Most of which revolve around a Clown called Pennywise, which they all admit being real. The kids eventually discover that the leader of the club, Bill's little brother, fell victim to this evil. The group sets out to stop the force and put it to rest once and for all. 30 years after defeating IT, Mike Hanlon, the only Member who remained in Derry, suspects that IT has returned and is forced to call back all of the Losers club, due to a promise they all made to return if its evil shall ever resurface. Uncovering new powers, clues and evil the club reunites as adults and come face to face with the evil that has haunted and fed on Derry for the last centuries.
|violence||Pennywise taunts and threatens the kids and adults throughout. In the beginning of the film, he (rips out his arm) kills Georgie, Bill's brother. Kids bully, beat, and threaten each other with knives. A red baloon rises through a drain. When it pops, blood splatters everywhere. After the girl cleans it up, the blood comes back. Blood flows mysteriously from Georgie's picture in a photo album. (Adult)Stan is found dead in a tub. Some blood is seen but no wounds. The word "It" is written in blood above his corpse. A woman is slapped by her abusive and alcoholic boyfriend. One character is stabbed. Not a lot of blood is shown. Rocks thrown at people and monsters. A young girl is slapped/hit by her father. Pennywise is sprayed with a aerator/substance that melts part of his face, not very gory. A man's head is found in a fridge. However, it is not gory, it is almost comic. Some people are seen wrapped in spiderwebs. Some people, using their bare hands, tear open the body of a spider like creature and pull its heart out (partially off-screen). This scene is super quick & mild. A lady turns into an old woman. Blood shown on almost every character.|
|profanity||3 uses of the word "nigger" Mostly "damn" and "hell" is used 2 uses of "bastard" 1 use of "son of a bitch" Some misuses of the Lord's name.|
|alcohol||A bottle of liquor is dropped. One girl's father is an abusive drunk. A man takes two pills from a bottle. A woman drops a beer can.|
|frightening||A Skeleton crawls out of a lake and grabs a boys ankle Scenes with Pennywise the Clown, which are integral to the story, will most likely scare young children. Tiny monster-like creatures ( eyeballs, spiders, crabs etc ) come out of fortune cookies. A character helps a man escape from a psychiatric asylum by turning into a clown with a barking dog's head. A girl is in the bathroom and strange demonic noises from Pennywise are heard coming from the sink drain along with the voice of Georgia pleading for her to save him. A red balloon ascends from the drain and explodes splattering raw blood everywhere A woman visits her old house to fin and an old woman now living there and while they are drinking tea, the women's cup fills with blood and the old woman turns to a demon The library scene can be mildly frightening, but it is mostly concieved by many viewers to be hilarious. The book is much more violent and sexually explicit than the movie, but the movie does manage to carry over the essential horror of the story. The movie used to be a TV miniseries from the 1990's, so it has a very low budget, therefore, any gore or blood or monsters/creatures look very fake and unrealistic, especially the clown's true form at the end of the movie. USA Suggested MPAA Rating: Rated PG-13 for mature thematic material, violence/terror and language OFFICIAL AGE RATINGS: MPAA - UNRATED BBFC - 15 (suicide scene, horror)|
